Dear family,
My name is Paula, I’m from sunny Portugal, and I can’t wait to start a new adventure as an au pair in Germany this January (yes, I know the winters are cold, but I promise to bring some Portuguese sunshine with me ☀️). I can’t drive… which is why I’m still in Portugal trying to get my license until December before the roads are safe for Germany.
I studied Languages, Literatures and Cultures at university, and for the past three years I’ve been working as an English teacher and Spanish tutor. So, keeping kids safe, happy, and learning—even if it involves silly songs, funny faces, or endless rounds of “why?” all day—while still smiling? That’s my everyday life!
I speak Portuguese, English and Spanish fluently. I know a bit of German (A1) which I really want to improve throughout the time. I consider myself a funny-creative-responsible professional. I have taken care of my young brother and also of three kids of a couple (I can send you the reference letter).
When I’m not teaching, you’ll probably find me cooking, dancing, learning, or enjoying time outdoors. I love kids because they’re honest, curious, and hilarious—you never know what they’ll say next, right? The best part of working with them, though, is seeing them grow, celebrate, and shine. They teach us too—to laugh more, care more, and treasure the little moments that the rush of life sometimes makes us, adults, forget.
At home, I grew up in a close Portuguese-Angolan family where kindness, love, respect, and teamwork mattered most, and that’s exactly the energy I’d bring to your household. I’d love to be part of your family, help with daily routines, share my culture (and my delicious recipes 🍲) and learn from yours, and, of course, make plenty of happy memories together.
