We have two boys: an infant (about 5 months) and a toddler (3yo), both very sweet. We have zero screen time so I’m the primary entertainment system!
It’s come time that I need a break some evenings to attend sports classes for my own mental and physical health, and so I need some help with taking care of the 2 kids. They are fairly easy to handle, both individually and together.
An evening routine would look like: feeding toddler if he hasn’t eaten, getting him into pyjamas, and doing evening activities (reading, arts, drawing, puzzles, music that’s not banging, etc.). The infant requires milk and diaper changes, to be played with in his play area, and to be gently swayed to sleep – doesn’t take long if he is tired. Toddler understands when infant needs attention and is patient about it.
For full disclosure: we have a small-medium fluffy dog too (doesn’t shed), he mainly minds his own business.
